No desire to be stranded in Kirkham.

Dear All,
I received your letters as follows: Father and Mother on Saturday, and yours Richard yesterday.
I am looking forward very much to coming home. I saw the Professor yesterday and I have obtained a pass out for 2.30pm, which will enable me to get the 3.25pm train from Cheltenham, arriving at Blackpool Central at 10.00pm. I went to enquire about extra trains yesterday evening, but he (the clerk) will not get the times till tomorrow, so I am going tomorrow. There may be several extras, so I can’t tell when I will get in, and whether it will be at Blackpool or Preston. You suggested changing at Preston for Poulton, Mother. Doing this on the 3.25pm train is rather risky especially if it is rather late, as I have to change again at Kirkham, which means two extra changes, and possible waits, and being stranded at Kirkham for the night.
We have had some rain lately, but after cold mornings it usually clears up and turns mild.
Now I come to the most important part of my letter. On Saturday 17th December, at Cambray Baptist Church, three souls were shown the way, and accepted Christ, at the third of the great Youth for Christ Rallies in Cheltenham, at which Roy Hession gave a great message and challenge to all.
I finished my exams today, the last being Drawing. I have had the results of this morning’s Engineering drawing exam, I scored 69% and I am placed fifth out of 25 boys, which considering is at the end of my first drawing term, isn’t too bad.
Tonight, in 20 minutes time, is the Y.M.C.A. Christmas party, and tomorrow evening is the resident’s Christmas dinner at 7pm.
Will close now, lots of love,
Paul
